Where Novosibirsk Emerged and Was Burnt to the Ground

Visitors will visit Chertovo Gorodishche — the first settlement in Novosibirsk. An old Novosibirsk resident will tell you about the history of the now-vanished wooden settlement in the Kamenka River floodplain based on personal experience. As you pass Lyceum School No. 12 and Sverdlov Square, the guide will tell you about the history of Kryachkov’s schools and the role of the architect Andrey Kryachkov in the city’s history. Kirov Square

The square is renowned for its unusual fountain decorated with a sculptural composition depicting the Russian fairy tale characters Zmey Gorynych and Koschei the Immortal.

Fountain dedicated to fairy tale characters: Zmey Gorynych and Koschei the Immortal. You can also find a wooden hut on chicken legs and a pike holding an egg (Koschei’s death) here.

Chertovo Gorodishche

The first settlement of nomadic Siberian tribes in Novosibirsk. According to legend, Kuchum Khan hid here from the Cossacks.

Sibrevkomovsky Bridge

The bridge was built in 1926 to establish a transport link between the city center and Zakamensky District. Once tall and modern, it was one of the main city river crossings. The bridge initially crossed the Kamenka River, but since the 1970s the river has been hidden in the sewers. In the 20th century, the bridge was associated with criminal legends. Today, Ippodromskaya Street passes under the bridge.
