Museum of Local History

The museum holds more than 250,000 items related to the history and nature of Siberia and Novosibirsk Region, including complete and large-scale archival collections (documents, photographs, films, family heirlooms, etc.), natural science collections (geology, paleontology, botany, zoology, etc.), local history collections (archeology, ethnography, clothing, glass, technology, phaleristics, porcelain and faience, etc.), and art collections.

Opening hours: Wednesday and Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Novonikolayevsk People’s Museum was founded in 1920. The museum’s main building is located in the former Trade Centre. The crown jewel of the museum collection is a complete mammoth skeleton.
In the basement, you’ll find the Siberia in Ancient Times exhibition, which showcases the life and beliefs of Siberian indigenous people. The first floor houses exhibitions about the history of Novosibirsk Region. The second floor is used for temporary exhibitions.
Natural science collections are exhibited in the Nature Museum on Vokzalnaya Magistral Street. The museum group includes Sergey Kirov’s memorial house. He stayed there for a short time in 1908. The house introduces guests to the life of Novonikolayevsk citizens in the early 20th century.
