The cathedral is located in Nizhnyaya Eltsovka residential area. Many holy images are kept here, including the holy image of Optina Elders with relics.
The Cathedral of the Transfiguration houses many holy and sacred images. The Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary icon was donated by the parishioners in 2001. The icon previously belonged to an old destroyed Purification Cathedral. It was discovered in the Ob Sea.
The Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in the village of Berd is the only church in the world that has all known images of the Holy Mother (2,304 icons). One of its relics is the Iberian Holy Mother wonder-working icon.
In the 20th century, the SibLAG Iskitimskiy Prison Camp was located here. It was a cruel back breaking camp, which contained political prisoners and clergymen along with criminals and repeat criminal offenders. Thousands of people died here. At the place of yet another terrible massacre, a spring of crystal clear water sprang up, which people immediately believed to be holy.
An endless flow of pilgrims to the spring led to the construction of the church. It was consecrated in 2015. The church’s basement houses a museum of persecution, both religious and secular.
